Online Science-athon/Marble Roll
Step 7: Analyze Data

Use a Data Table to Verify Predictions and Answer Questions

Click here to view the Marble Roll data table.

As a class or in small groups, display the data for your class. Are those the data you sent to the database?

Now display the data for All Classes. Sort the data in the Distance Rolled column.

  • What is the longest distance reported?

  • What is the shortest distance reported?

  • Where does your data for distance rolled fit? Is it in the top half? middle portion? lower half?

Write down your findings. Then, use what you discovered to verify the prediction you made before collecting data. Try to explain differences. Also, write down the things you wonder about. Then sort other columns, or click on the arrows at the top of the data table to display other data and see what you can discover. Remember to write down your findings and your questions.

Click #1 or #2 to use graphs of the Marble Roll data to answer a question.
