Online Science-athon/Marble Roll
Step 5: Marble Roll Day!

Everyone doing the virtual marble roll will enter data collected on Virtual Marble Roll Day and send it to a national database for comparison with data sent by other students. So, you'll need to keep accurate records. Click here to download a data recording sheet.

Review all of your test data and decide on the ramp design you'll use on Virtual Marble Roll Day! Explain the features of your ramp design to the class. Then, make predictions.

Have your teacher decide on the order in which the marbles will be rolled. Roll the marbles in this order and record data for distance rolled on your data-recording sheet. As the marbles are rolled, create a graph on the board to show the distance for each marble. Then use the graph to verify the predictions made before collecting data. Try to explain differences between the predictions and the actual data.
